REVIEW
Alok has a wonderful gift of expressing his thoughts by juggling simple day-to-day words and giving them a poetry form. He is also a very keen observer of life and ponders deeply about the mysteries of life and creation. When he renders his deepest thoughts about the mysteries of life and creation through his beautiful play of words, he can touch our souls. I have enjoyed reading Alok’s poems very much – not only for the profundity of thoughts expressed in them but also for the titillating play of words. In this collection of poems, Alok has expressed some very profound thoughts about the play of life and life’s illusionary nature (God’s lila). He reminds us that as humans, we get entrapped in this illusion of life and often fail to appreciate the immensity of God’s magical creation. Through his poems, he invites us to transcend our frivolous minds, to experience, appreciate and wonder about the vastness of existence, to develop a playful relationship with life and its creator and to find joy within ourselves. Each one of his poems is like a mini scripture, although unlike traditional scriptures which can be quite esoteric and difficult to understand, his poems have a certain simplicity and playfulness in them, which makes them easy to understand and fun to read. Reading this collection of poems, to me, has been highly enjoyable, inspirational and educational.
