If any one word defines 2022 it is "change." Mary LaForge brings us on a visual journey with remnants of observations over 6-decades of artmaking condensed into a cohesive body of work. In MASHUP, LaForge explores topics of heritage and culture within miniature narrative collage.
When printed out in their "logo-size" format, the smallness forces viewers to stop what they are doing and examine these images closely. An element of focused looking disrupts interference from outside stresses and the inherent ability of art to bring a sense of serenity is biologically triggered. Viewing art releases endorphins into the brain and the pleasure emotion may be accessed. The artworks in MASHUP are a unique breath of fresh air.
