The cover photograph is an image of Chelsea Holland from the film "Hide and Seek" (1996) directed by Su Friedrich, a film maker. In East London, on the outskirts, in a field edged by cyclone fencing and sight-lines (those visuals so typical of prisons and playgrounds), two adolescent boy-girls, or rather girls who wished to turn into Renaissance boys conversed. It was an end-of-the-world setting. Occasionally the owl hooted, the kestrel flapped his wings. |
