YANNIS PHILLIS
 |
Yannis A. Phillis was born in Nauplion, Greece. He holds a degree in electrical and mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Athens and a PhD in systems engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). He has taught at UCLA, Boston University, universities of Ecuador and the Technical University of Crete where he is Professor Emeritus and was Rector for twelve years. He has published among others eight poetry collections in Greek, one in English, six novels, and several environmental and technical books. He has received the Harry Kurnitz Literary Award at UCLA twice and numerous awards in Greece and the US for his literary, environmental and scientific work. His poetry has appeared in literary magazines in Greek, English, German, Chinese and French. He is a member of the Greek PEN and Poets and Writers, USA, as well as Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the European Academy of Sciences and member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. |
