Dr. Amit Singh

The poet, a native of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, whose poems are included in the present volume was sent to earth on 11 May 1982. He, after completing his post graduation in English Literature from M. J. P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, successfully awarded the Ph. D. degree in 2006 from the same university. Since then, he worked at different places, he joined Department of Applied English at M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, worked there for one year and Government Girls P. G. College, Deoria for two years. Since 2010 he is working in the capacity of Assistant Professor and Head, Department of English, S. P. P. G. College, Shohratgarh, Siddharthnagar, Uttar Pradesh. This is the zeal of creativity which always inspired the poet to do something; as Mahatma Gandhi was of the opinion that it is better to do something, though less valuable, than to sit idle. The poet has published 10 research articles in different prestigious National and International journals. He has participated in 8 National Seminars of Literature and attended some multi- disciplinary seminars also. He is the member of different academic associations of India. The poet was influenced by William Shakespeare, Keats, Milton, W.H. Auden and the philosophies of Swami Vivekanand, Dr. Radhakrishnan, R. N. Tagore and George Bernard Shaw. Their writings and philosophies compel the poet to think, think for himself, his family, his society, his country and for the universe. The poems included in this collection are written between2007-2013. If they stimulate the readers to some extent, the poet will feel sufficiently rewarded. |
