Belinda left Green Spring in 1985 after losing everything in a devasting flood to pursue her firefighting and emergency medic career. In 1996, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) which ended the career she so loved. At times, Belinda was unable to walk and confined to her home with an original diagnosis for survival was grim. Belinda returned to her hometown in 2018, to retire and build a home on family property. With her MS in a solid remission for 15 years. Belinda continues to write poetry, short stories, and document the historical accounts of Green Spring’s 200-year rich history. She started a non-profit organization four years ago to help support a renewed future in her dying hometown. For which she has found a deep passion. Today Belinda lives a very laid-back, simple life in the country with her three dogs, two cats, and an old parrot. For which she has found a rich existence after years of struggle.
