A very Happy and Prosperous New year! I hope you will enjoy this latest edition of Harvests of New Millennium. This edition includes a massive collection of artwork, poems, haiku, book reviews, photography and visual art by international poets and artists reaching a worldwide audience. My heart’s desire is that the Harvests should concentrate on publishing new and original authors and artists across the globe. No doubt, Painting and Poetry are closely related. This is confirmed by this very subtle comment: “Writing, music, sculpting, painting, and prayer! These are the three things that are most closely related! Writers, musicians, sculptors, painters, and the faithful are the ones who make things out of nothing. Everybody else, they make things out of something, they have materials! But a written work can be done with nothing, it can begin in the soul!” (C. Joy Bell C).
Kumbh Mela 2013, the most popular and biggest fair in the world attracting about eighty millions of pilgrims across the globe, began on 14 January in Allahabad. Mark Twain during his tour to India pointed out: “The tale is great, one may say enormous. Every twelfth year is held to be a year of peculiar grace; a greatly augmented volume of pilgrims results then.”
The most tragic incident took place on December 14, 2012 when a lone gunman shot and killed his mom and 26 other people-20 of the children in Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. May the souls of all the departed, through God’s mercy, rest in peace. I along with Cyberwit staff pray to God to give strength to the bereaved families to bear this tragedy.
My thanks to these creative artists for their generous support and subscriptions. Without their kind cooperation, the publication of this issue was not possible.
