Mary Barnet-Schiff was born in New York City in
1950 and has been writing and publishing her poetry
since 1965. She is the founder of PoetryMagazine.com on the
internet which has featured most of the leading poets
of the world at one time or another since 1996. She has read her poetry to worldwide audiences and
first read in public in 1967 in Greenwich Village's
legendary Figaro Cafe. Most recently she read at the Baggot Inn on West 3rd
St. in the Village. Mary resides in Ocean County, New Jersey with her
husband Richard E. Schiff, editor of the Greenwich
Village Gazette.
